WHAT IS COACHING AND TRAINING?

This service is available through Access to Work or private funding. Training supports people to develop and improve their work practices.

PDC tailors training to the individual's disability, needs and duties. PDC also aims to help develop understanding, efficiency, awareness and speed for each person.

WHAT TYPE OF SKILLS ARE DEVELOPED?

Skills  included but not limited to:

  • Time & Organisation Skills

  • Writing and Reading Skills

  • Analysis and Evaluation skills

  • Structuring and Planning

  • Efficiency Development

TOTAL APPROACH TO TRAINING

For training to be as effective as possible,  PDC work to develop clear and open communication with workers and their manager, HR or Training  Department. This approach has proven effective and empowering for all involved; it ensures support really meets the companies and workers needs as well as helping other staff understand. and correctly support. staff during and after their training.

HOW LONG DOES TRAINING LAST?

Training is normally delivered in blocks of 2 or 3 hours over a number of weeks based on individual requirements. Sessions usually take place at the employee's place of work. Frequency will be based on the employees need and availability.

HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF TRAINING AND COACHING?

  • Support and give workers time to become comfortable with new skills

  • If appropriate, empower the worker to share skills with team members

  • Ensure clear targets and feedback is given

  • Don't use new strategies as a form of monitoring of performance measures- Ensure managers are trained in non-discriminatory support and management methods (e.g. NOT micro-managing, unhelpful feedback, bullying and punishment).

  • Conflict Resolution

  • Stress Management

  • Memory improvement

  • Communication Development

  • An active approach to tasks
